My one complaint with this part of the movie is how it treats Yamcha and Tien. Yamcha gets knocked out on accident and replaced with this sumo wrestler guy and even though Tien moves onto the semifinals, he gets eliminated by future Trunks who uses the extremely cheap trick of going Super Saiyan. I hesitate to call it a fight because Piccolo up and leaves only a minute in.

My main problems with the movie surface around halfway through when we get introduced to our main villain, Bojack. The reason why villains like Freeza and Cell are so memorable is because they have a unique personality. Bojack, on the other hand, has absolutely nothing that separates him from a plank of wood. The fight between Gohan and Bojack lacks any tension or emotional through line and it takes the entire movie down with it. Because Bojack and his crew are essentially cool looking planks of wood, the emotion of the movie rests on Gohan, a character whose best emotional moments are rooted in the villains he fights.
